Day 11, Muskrat Creek Shelter to Carter Gap Shelter
Today’s miles: 12.5. Total miles: 93.9.
Highlight of the day was the climb to 5500′,
Standing Indian Mountain. The climb was less rigorous, and a pretty easy day. There was a threat of rain and thunderstorms; just showers today, but windy as I write this…
Tomorrow is expected to be more demanding, so hang on!

Did you get pics of Bly Gap? I’m looking forward to seeing some of your adventures when you get a chance. If you take any zeros in Franklin, I have a suggestion for you. The Mason Ruby and Saphhire mine (2 miles from the trail somewhere near Wayah Bald) has camping and you can spend the day mining for precious gems! Not something you’ll see in RI, that’s for sure. Anyway, good to hear things are still moving along well for you…I hope your night under the stars was delightful! Keep on hiking!
Hi, just got here this morning for a Nero. Being Sunday, the gem museum is closed… Staying at the Budget Inn with 2 others to save money! Church breakfast in the morning, and then back on the trail. Thanks for following! CG
Yes! Photos photos!!! Nothing like seeing from a cameras eye. Maybe later. Especially for us that haven’t hiked down south. Enjoying your blog and following your daily adventures. Be well, laugh and love your day!!!
